Root canal treatment

A root canal is a treatment used to repair and save a tooth that is badly decayed or becomes infected. During a root canal procedure, the nerve and pulp are removed and the inside of the tooth is cleaned and sealed. Without treatment, the tissue surrounding the tooth will become infected and abscesses may form.

"Root canal" is the term used to describe the natural cavity within the center of the tooth. The pulp or pulp chamber is the soft area within the root canal. The tooth's nerve lies within the root canal.

A dental restoration or dental filling is a treatment to restore the function, integrity, and morphology of missing tooth structure resulting from caries or external trauma.

To treat a cavity the decayed portion of the tooth is removed and then the area is filled with restorative material.

In case of trauma or fractured teeth the missing area is built up with restorative material, or a crown/veneer.

Dentures/Crowns/Bridges

Dentures/Crown/Bridge

dental crown is a tooth-shaped "cap" that is placed over a tooth to cover the tooth to restore its shape and size, strength, and improve its appearance.

The crowns, when cemented into place, fully encase the entire visible portion of a tooth that lies at and above the gum line.

  1. Protect a weak tooth (for instance, from decay or after RCT) from breaking or to hold together parts of a cracked tooth

  2. To restore an already broken tooth or a tooth that has been severely worn down

  3. To cover and support a tooth with a large filling when there isn't a lot of tooth left

  4. To hold a dental bridge in place

  5. To cover misshapened or severely discolored teeth

  6. To cover a dental implant

  7. To make a cosmetic modification

Dental bridges literally bridge the gap created by one or more missing teeth.

A bridge is made up of two or more crowns for the teeth on either side of the gap and a false tooth/teeth in between. These false teeth are called pontics and can be made from gold, alloys, porcelain, or a combination of these materials. Dental bridges are supported by natural teeth or implants.

A denture is a removable replacement for missing teeth and surrounding tissues. Two types of dentures are available - complete and partial dentures. Complete dentures are used when all the teeth are missing, while partial dentures are used when some natural teeth remain.

Cosmetic dentistry

Cosmetic dentistry

Cosmetic dentistry refers to any dental work that improves the appearance of teeth, gums and/or bite. It primarily focuses on improvement dental aesthetics in colour, position, shape, size, alignment and overall smile appearance.

Teeth whitening

Teeth may get discoloured over time because of either extrinsic

or intrinsic stains. Such stains which cannot be removed by scaling,

are removed by bleaching with peroxide based agents to obtain a

whiter shade.

Veneers/Laminates

Dental veneers (sometimes called porcelain veneers or dental porcelain laminates) are wafer-thin, custom-made shells of tooth-coloured materials designed to cover the front surface of teeth to improve your appearance. These shells are bonded to the front of the teeth.

Dental Hygiene

Dental scaling is done with manual hand instruments, ultrasonic instruments or both. It is done to eliminate the plaque bacteria with sonic vibrations. The ultrasonic scaling device removes tartar (calculus), plaque and biofilm from the tooth surface and underneath the gum line.

Root planing involves detailed scaling of the root surface to decrease inflammation of the gum tissue.

Dental Implants

Dental Implants

Dental implants are metal posts or frames that are surgically positioned into the jawbone beneath your gums to mount replacement teeth onto them.
Because implants fuse to your jawbone, they provide stable support for artificial teeth. Dentures and bridges mounted to implants won't slip or shift in your mouth — an especially important benefit when eating and speaking. This secure fit helps the dentures and bridges — as well as individual crowns placed over implants — feel more natural than conventional bridges or dentures.

For some people, ordinary bridges and dentures are simply not comfortable or even possible, due to sore spots, poor ridges or gagging. In addition, ordinary bridges must be attached to teeth on either side of the space left by the missing tooth. An advantage of implants is that no adjacent teeth need to be prepared or ground down to hold your new replacement tooth/teeth in place.

Minor surgery

Many tooth extractions (including impacted teeth) are considered minor oral surgery, as well as procedures involving the raising and replacement of a mucoperiosteal flap, gingivectomy (crown lengthning), operculectomy, frenectomy, and usually the placing of one or more sutures.
